For this collection, my inspiration came from an exhibition form Asian Civilization museum which is called port cities: Multicultural emporiums of Asia. Before Singapore became a Multicultural immigrant country, Singapore is just a small port city.
At that time seaborne trade has a pivotal impact on the progression of human civilization and the exchange art and culture in the whole Asia. Cultural relics in the museum has shown us that the beauty of cultural fusion.
What I do is I ‘m bringing this idea to contemporary society and name it modern port.Modern Port is like a huge exhibition that showcases culture, jewelry, and fashion from everywhere. It is also a place that can mix people, merchandise, and ideas. Global trends bred in this cosmopolitan Port city. I’m trying something traditional such as hand-weave fabric and traditional “Shu” embroidery. On the other hand I’m exploring the modern trends like new ways of cutting and sporty street style.
