When I first draft the top, I try to draft the sleeve and the bodice as a connected piece so that it will have a “kimono” shape. However the idea is not working because this pattern will make the armhole area very my design is a crop top which makes the proportion not flattering. I also drop the idea of “exaggerated mandarin collar”, It makes the garment too avant-garde.

For the skirt, after I draft the inner layer of the skirt, I put it on the mannequin and start to drape the outer layer. Draping makes the outer layer more unexpected, it fold and drape in a very interesting way.

This is how the toile looks like. I'm still making some changes, such as making the collar smaller so that it looks more delicate; connect the outer layer in to one piece so that it won't have a seam line in the middle.
