My first inspiration came from “plastic surgery”.
In present-day society, woman regularly get cosmetic surgery to achieve their desired look and it has gradually become something more commonly seen. With no doubt that this pursuit of beauty is a double side sword, some of the result came out really satisfied and it built up the confident of the person, on the other hand, some cases has disastrous failed. This topic has always been a hot topic for fashion editorial photo-shoot but not so popular on runway.

In 2006, plastic surgery has already become a trend. Meisel’s work satirize this mad social reality of in order to get pretty, people work at it by harming their own body. Klein’s human with no blooded muscle but only plastic white visage photo shown us people seeking “preventative “injectable fillers and face lifts at a young age, however the result often ends up looking order.

What’s worse is that some people got addicted to plastic surgery and they go extreme and exaggerate too much on face. Eventually, their look was too artificial to consider beautiful.

Excessive plastic surgery has made Valeria Lukyonova is a living Barbie with doll-like proportion. As for the human Ken doll, Rodrigo Alves spent over 373,000 dollars on various procedures and now it cause him a serious health problem,—— he cannot breath properly.
However, they do have people who consider this extreme as extraordinary. Photographer Phillip Toledano took photos of people who have drastic reconstructive surgery. He considered them as the new age of beauty, a unique look that represent this digital time.

As for design, after I did a survey about “woman’s idealize body shape”, I found out that 69% out of 50 people think that hourglass shape is what they want to achieve, therefore I’ll emphasize on waist in my design.
