Learning Agreement

The aim of my research is to find out people’s perception of beauty in contemporary society and their opinions on plastic surgery, including social phenomenon on this subject such as the pursuance of extreme beauty, new technology on plastic surgery and so on.

For my research, I’m planning to do survey find out people’s opinions on plastic surgery. I will also interview people from different age group, gender and social class, people who did plastic surgery before, in order to get deeper and more comprehensive information. I will also watch documentary and interview of people who addicted to plastic surgery and people who have extreme surgery. Reading the psychologist’s research paper on this particular group of people will also be important.

To support my practical investigation, I will visit orthopedic hospital and consult with the professional people in the plastic surgery industry. Besides this, I’m planning to visit ZhongQingKeHua biotechnology institute that located in Chengdu. It devote to new technology in medical plastic surgery such as auto somatic cell evolution. I’m also planning to visit the “human+” exhibition in art science museum Singapore to see the future trend development of cosmetic surgery.

For the next four months, I’m aiming to complete an eveningwear collection of 7 to 8 sets of garments accompanied by a variety of accessories. It is my first time doing an eveningwear collection. I’m more comfortable to design ready-to-wear and work with vibrant color and print. However, eveningwear has always been a field that I want to try. This time, I want to use only monochromatic scheme to showcase the elegant, simple and feminine side of my style. To translate my inspiration, I’m planning to exaggerate the shape and volume to express the “extreme beauty” in plastic surgery industry. I will also use futuristic-looking material and modern cutting to translate the advanced technology side of it.Through this project, I want to experience new materials and soft eveningwear materials such as net, organza and silk content material. It definitely will improve my sewing skill and the knowledge of different finishing. I also want to explore more couture technique such as beading. Secondly, my target customer for my previous collection is reality younger, however this time I’m also targeting a more mature market of woman. Besides this, I’m usually more focus on the style and trend of the particular season but this time I want to look back in the fashion industry and focus more on the first hand research. Moreover, the shapes for my previous design is too commercial and safe, this time, I’m planning to do more experiment on shapes and construction. I also want to improve my cognition on the proportion of woman’s figure.
