Look 1 Toile

Original Design for Look1

The first toile I made has a lot of contouring issues. The side seam is very loose and the front bodice is not smooth and cut too high.

As for the skirt, the pleats is too small and shallow compare to the sketches.

The contouring for the second looks better however the new issue is that the design for the dress is very boring which is a basic princess line bodice. The solution I found is to add some drape designs on the bodice.

First I use muslin to do the drape after I confirm the pattern piece I use the TPU material to try. The material is stiffer so it gives a different effect.

As for skirt, the flare is not enough or I can make it as a fitted pencil dress.

At last, I decide to make two version of the style. TPU drapes with a long flare gown and a fitted dress with silk wool material drape. The fitted version also comes with the outerwear that my original sketch has.

New Design for Look1 & Look4

I wasn’t very sure what length I want to do at first, therefore I make a full length first then I chop it short. After I consult with my lecture I decide to do a full length dress because although the tea length looks very adorable but t is a specific length. If I choose to do that I should have more that five dresses that is also tea length.
