Making of Portfolio

I decide to put 6 collections into my final portfolio. Apart from the competition designs and major project, I also add in my children’s wear and menswear collection to showcase that I’m not just a woman’s wear designer, but a designer that specialize in woman’s wear but still capable of handling other categories.

For the layout design, I’m going for a more modern simple but still energetic design. The background base is a neutral grey tone shade with geometrical line. After that, I’m adding galactic color scheme making it more dynamic. I’m trying to make the color pop out but not turn out a messing looking. The whole layout also connected to my design style well. I’m a designer that like using colors and not afraid to use print. The target customer is also relatively a younger and a more energetic group.

For my binding, I want to make sure that the paper has a good quality and the binding looks professional. I found out a factory that specializes in making wedding album and personal portrait album. I decide to do a fabric cover with an art paper cover. The binding will be a perfect binding because this binding looks very clean. I also want to add a small envelope design that allows me to put my name card inside.

Throughout this project I want to make a portfolio that has my own style from layout, designs to bindings because this portfolio is like a three-year effort result. I will also try to make it rich in content, clear and distinct every collection’s theme and key point but still look consistent and professional. This project will definitely improve my skill of drawing as well as computer aided design. It will also help me define myself better as a fashion designer.
