The original fabric is a fully beaded netting fabric that has a very edgy shining. I really like the size and the color of the scale sequins however it looks very flat. I want to make it more three-dimensional so it’s more texture and interesting. My original plan is to cut the sequins open and overlap two sides. In order to hold it I will punch two holes and sew them together. However I found this sequins is very difficult to make small holes and the thread can’t hold.

After that I try to use jewelry glue to glue both side down however the new issue is that although the glue is transparent but it’s very smelly and the two protrusive edges is very sharp.
At last, I decide to use folding technique to make the sequins more stereo. I try a few ways of folding and it all looks nice especially on a lager area.

The first garment I used this technique is the tank top from look2. It looks so much better after I fold the sequins up.
The color is very different from each and every angle. It looks like jewel from far. fold the sequins up. The color is very different from each and every angle. It looks like jewel from far. What is more interesting is that it creates a sound when it’s walking.

As my designs go along I keep changing the ways of folding and the way of beading in order to create different effect. For example the sequins effect for look4 is closer and they go different direction so it creates a very puff and furry effect.
